We recently sent off on an adventure to Byron Bay to escape the cold Canberra winter. The school holidays beckoned for us to pack our bags in search of somewhere new we could explore. Byron Bay was the perfect destination! Byron Bay is a coastal town located on the far-north coast of NSW, Australia. It has a small population but swells during the holiday seasons.

As this was a family trip we tackled everything we knew the kids would love and managed to squeeze in some things we wanted to do as well. We stayed at  Elements, it’s a beautiful Resort & Spa that is perfect for families. It has 193 private villas dotted amidst 22 hectares of absolute beachfront paradise. With a heated pool, adults pool and walking tracks everywhere, it was amazing!

Our travel took us to the most important landmark the Byron Bay Lighthouse. The kids loved the history, however, the whales swimming off the coast was the highlight!

You cannot go to Byron Bay without going to The Farm, especially if you have kids. It’s simply the cutest farm with exquisite food and we spent hours there absorbing it all in.

One of the highlights was collecting the fresh macadamia nuts off the ground and plopping ourselves down on the picnic benches and eating what we collected. There’s nothing quite like eating warm macadamias that have just fallen to the ground.

The other highlight is the hairy Scottish cows. An absolute favourite of mine. I have adored them from the time I lived in Scotland, they are beyond cute! The whole experience was something we will never forget.

We had the luxury of eating out every morning and had a blast finding the best spot to have breakfast. After much deliberation, it was unanimous that Byron Fresh Cafe was the best breakfast in town. It was so good we went back on our last day to indulge once more.

One of the bonuses of staying at Elements was the Solar Train. It is the worlds first solar train. It runs between Elements and the town centre. It’s old but revamped and definitely worthwhile.

If you are looking for a lovely place to visit this is a must. It’s warm, relaxing and a great place to take kids.
